Youth empowering youth to use their vote to create change.

Future Voters of Danbury is a student-led organization that aims to pre-register and register both youth individuals and adults, educate youth about the significance of voting, and inform the youth of how beneficial a singular vote can be for their community.

In the upcoming year, we will emphasize getting people to register for the 2024 election and local elections in 2025. Our hope being able to increase the youth by 50% in Danbury and not only inspire youth to vote, but adults as well.

Who We Are?

Future Voters of Danbury initiative was created to register new youth voters in Danbury with over 89,000+ residents. Our organization's main ambition is to get the youth rates up by 50% and to reach over 55,000+ city residents (including 15,000+ youth residents). Future Voters of Danbury promotes civil engagement and empowers individuals to vote in local, state, and national elections. More specifically, the highly anticipated Presidential Election of 2024.

Our Story

Future Voters of Danbury was founded by Diego Soto at the age of fifteen after extensively researching the low voter turnout rate that has, for years, historically undermined low-income communities, especially the Hispanic community. After seeing that no action was being taken to address this concerning voter turnout rate, Diego decided to do something about it and voila! - Future Voters of Danbury was created!

During the Presidential Election of 2020, only about 29% of all registered voters in Danbury had casted ballots during Election Day. This contributed to a low voter turnout participation rate among the citizens of Danbury, with an assumed 10% of youth voters (under the age of 18) casting their ballots to vote in the Presidential Election. Now compared to towns like Ridgefield and Canaan with a predominantly white majority group where citizens are more informed and more educated, their voter turnout rate was a staggering 63%. If you compare the voter turnout rate in Danbury and in towns like Ridgefield and Canaan, that's an astonishing 34% difference of the voter participation rate.

The founder and volunteers of Future Voters of Danbury are now dedicating their lives to boosting voter turnout, and promoting civic engagement in Danbury. They achieve this through civic workshops, pre-registering/registering as many young people as possible through initiating voter registration drives all across the city of Danbury, and through extensive social media promotion.
